Silk Kuts was originally a Drum and Bass DJ from 1995 till 1999. He heard DJ Hype scratching on a mixtape and was captivated by the sounds he was making, this is what started the ball rolling for me. I then saw a video of DJ Q-Bert a few months later and from then I?ve never looked back. All I wanted to do was to learn how to scratch. In 1999 he bought my first set of decks and a scratch mixer and started to learn more about scratching and beat-juggling from DJ Tigerstyle.
In 2001 he met Mr Brown and they started to practice together. They both learnt a lot from each other and there skills progressed a great deal within a couple of years. Mr Brown introduced Silk Kuts to the world of production and they have been working on projects together since 2002.
Silk Kuts has been battling professionally since 2002 and has made a good impact on the UK battle scene. 2004 saw Silk Kuts win the UK battle for world supremacy and 2nd place at the world finals.
He admits he?s not a party DJ. He uses his turntables as instruments and uses them to create his music. He aspires to become more of producer and hopes to be releasing battle breaks on a regular basis.
Silk Kut?s main aim is to be able to showcase more with Mr Richie Kuts and for them to be recognised as a group of musicians.
